The University Library consists of the Main Library, the Serials Library and the Virtual Library (E-library). The Library uses the Library of Congress Classification Scheme and Subject Headings for organizing its materials. The Library is fully automated and it uses KOHA Library Management software for its operations. The following Koha modules are in use in the Library, viz: Cataloging Module, Serials Module, Circulation Module and Management Report Generation Module. The library has an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to provide access to its collection.
The Main Library provides the central reading space for students in the university. It has a seating capacity of 184 readers, with cozy reading tables and chairs. The Library is fully air-conditioned and it has in addition, ceiling fans to ensure adequate circulation of air. The holdings of the Main Library are Text books, Monographs and Reference resources. The current holding of the Main Library is over 6000 volumes.
The Serials Library holds journals, periodicals, magazines and daily newspapers. The serials Library has a seating capacity of 20 readers. As at the time of the opening of the university, the Serials Library has over 1500 volumes of current journals, periodicals and magazines. It subscribes to 6 national and zonal daily newspapers.
The E-Library has 50 desktop computers with a central server. It has links to 7 public free access academic data bases and the National Virtual Library of Nigeria.
The library has a backup generator for the supply of electricity whenever the public electrical supply line goes down. There are also solar panels for the supply of water to the conveniences located within the library building.
The Library provides resource materials to support teaching, learning and research activities of students and staff (faculty and non-academic) of the university. It also provides resource materials for leisure and entertainment. None university members can use the Library with special permission.
